The World of DreamsDreams are a way of communicating with your subconscious mind. While you are asleep, certain part of your dreams will be dedicated to processing learnings and whatever you experienced throughout the day. Through dreams you get to release emotional and mental pressures and in that respect they are vital for your wellbeing whether you remember your dreams or not. Through dreams you get to experience even your deepest desires and fears - some of which you may not be even consciously aware of. If there is an area of your life that is of vital importance to your emotional and mental wellbeing, but you are postponing resolving it consciously, by taking some necessary action in your outer life, you may have a recurrent dream. All that such dream is attempting to do is draw your attention to the problem you need to take care of. Sometimes a recurrent dream may not be identical, but rather a series of dreams, kind of like watching mini TV series. The actual content may change, yet there is a continuity of the underlying message. Sometimes a recurrent dream may appear as a nightmare. It is good to remember that nightmares are unfinished dreams. They have a message for you to uncover, a situation to resolve and sometimes you can resolve it through another dream, and sometimes you may have to take action in the outer world and deal with the issue that is causing the nightmare. If you are facing some form of inner conflict you don't feel ready to resolve and to work on consciously, you may forget your dreams when you wake up. What you eat before you go to sleep may influence your dreams. If you drink alcohol before you go to sleep you are more likely to have an apparently dreamless night i.e. not to recall your dreams when you wake up; whereas eating cheese before you go to sleep may stimulate more vivid dreams. Eating bananas (they contain vitamin B6) is supposed to help you have nicer dreams. How well these nutritional suggestions work for you is up to you to discover. What you read or watch (e.g. on TV) right before you go to sleep may have greater impact on your dreams because while you are watching TV you are already in a trance-like dreamy state. If you watch or read stuff that emotionally unsettles you, you're more likely to have unsettling dreams. If you watch movies or read things with bloodshed, fights and general destruction and disasters occurring across the world and you dream of those things - it is silly to look for the meaning of those dreams in any "dream interpretation dictionary". And on account on dream interpretation, the symbolism in your dreams is for the most part highly personal. Some dreams may contain "archetypal" ("universal") symbolism, some dreams may have actual meaning and stand exactly for what they are, without being veiled in any kind of symbolism and the only way to find out is to check it out. A woman sent me an email telling me she dreams she was pregnant and asking me what it means? I have no idea what it means for her. It may mean that she is actually pregnant, or that she desires to be pregnant or that she fears to be pregnant and it may be a symbolic expression of whatever pregnancy means to her - developing a new project (not necessarily a baby), or if she looks upon pregnancy as something undesirable or a burden, it may be a symbolic expression of such a concern about such burden in her life. And it can mean million others things. If you dream of some disaster about to befall you, such as you're planning to go on a journey and you dream about an accident, then you may consider changing plans for your journey or paying greater attention to the area where you experienced disaster in your dream. The dream may be a warning and you have the power to change the outcome through the actions you choose. If you desire to understand the symbolism of your dreams, you have several options. One is you can program your mind to dream another dream before you go to sleep - a dream which will tell you what you need to know in a way you can clearly understand. You can also get into a trance state and communicate with the elements from your dream as if they were real people and ask them what they wanted to communicate to you through your dream. You can also program your mind to dream a solution to any problem you may be facing. Again, you may find it helpful to tell yourself that you will dream a solution to the specific problem in a way that you can clearly understand. If you have a dream with a solution to your problem and you have no idea what it means, it won't be of much help. You can also program a dream which will help you to locate something you desire to find in your outer world - it can be a missing person, a missing object, a book or another source that will help you to get the information and understanding you're after. In shamanic dreaming this process of locating a physical object you dreamt about is called "bridging the dream". It is very useful when you need "evidence" for something, but don't have any idea where to look for it. And talking of shamans, one way that they have learned about properties and uses of plants is by communicating with plants in this dreamlike hypnotic state. There is much you can learn in your dreams. If you need help in the outer world in resolving a specific problem, you can dream an actual person, institution, tool, etc. as well as where exactly to go to find them. You may ask for a dream that will tell you about the best way for you to solve the problem. If you are unsure whether to proceed with some project you are involved with, you may program a dream to reveal to you everything you need to know about a person, place or situation - again, in a way that you can clearly understand. For some people, especially those who are new to using hypnosis and working with their mind-power, dreams may be somewhat easier to work with because when you go to sleep and dream, you naturally let go of the critical faculty of conscious mind - so it is easier for the information from the subconscious to emerge. If you are having difficulty recalling your dreams, then instead of rushing out of bed upon awakening, remain in that half-asleep / half-awake ("hypnopompic") state and let the contents from your dreams slowly emerge into your awareness - then write them down in as great detail as you can. This will help you to remember more and more of your dreams. go to Deep Trance Now Free Hypnosis Newsletter Articles Archive Subscribe to Deep Trance Now Newsletter (left side of this page) and access Free Lucid Dreaming supraliminal recording, to help you become lucid in your dreams. c) 2004 - 2009, Dr. Laura De
