Creative Imagination

"I can't believe that!" said Alice.

"Can't you?" the queen said in a pitying tone. "Try again, draw a long breath, and shut your eyes."

Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One can't believe impossible things."

"I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

- From "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll

Here are two exercises that will help you to develop creative imagination.

Exercise 1 for developing your creative imagination:

Pick one object and put it in front of you or just think of one object and then write down 50 - 100 different possible uses of such an object. The object may be a paper clip, pencil, cup, fork, plate, shoe, ruler or anything else you'd like to play with.

At first it may be easy to think of many ordinary ways anyone could think of using such an object, but then you'll have to let your imagination take over and perhasp enlarge or reduce the size of an object, or imagine it made out of different kinds of materials in order to come up with 100 or more different possibilities that perhaps no one before you ever thought about.

You should do this exercise for at least seven days, but it's a good idea to repeat it every once in a while, perhaps every month. The more you exercise your creative imagination, the more creative ideas will come to your mind. This is a very useful skill when you need to solve some problem. Every idea that comes to your mind may not be practical or usable, but then out of hundred or more ideas, it will be much easier to find one that will be a perfect solution to your particular problem.

When grown-ups work on solving problems, they call this ability brainstorming.

Exercise 2 for developing your creative imagination

For at least one week, practice doing things you normally do in your life in some other way. This will help you to develop both your creativity and flexiblity. If there's something you never did before, you may want to try it now and see what happens. Make sure that whatever it is that you're doing does not harm in any way either you or anyone else, but rather that is merely a different, creative way of doing something.

When you practice using hypnosis, the power of your mind and when you begin to play and experiment with shaping the energy in many different ways, interesting things will happen - even more so if you dare to try something that no one else has tried before. This will enrich your experience of life tremendously and one day it will also enriched the lives of those who cross your path.
